It’s a short one this week folks, but don’t worry, the feelings/minute ratio is exceptionally high. This episode isn’t about playing–not even in the killjoy sense of being about losing. Actually, it’s kind of about being sad, but it’s also about friendship and forms of care and what to do when someone you love is sad. Recording it made me feel better, and if you’re sad, I hope it makes you feel better, too. Here are some links:
- The webcomic I referenced is called “HOW TO: CARE FOR LITTLE SAD PERSON” by John Saddington (I suspect that’s a pseudonym)
- Here’s a lovely little article about how to practice consent in your friendships
- Want to create your own Emotional Earthquake Kit? I found this handy form that might be a good starting point!

I’ve never commented, but have been listening to you since you started. In general, your podcast has been brilliant and at times really helpful. I wanted to leave a quick message after re-listening to this episode to tell you that, after depression kept me in bed for two days in a period of time where I really did not feel like I had the time to be doing that, being busy finishing up two degrees at the same time, hearing you say that when the world is too hard it’s okay to roll up in a duvet and hide for a while was really, really helpful and comforting. So thank you. You definitely made me cry, but in a good getting-feelings-out-of-my-system way. I’m doing better now and doing the dishes etc. to start fresh tomorrow – but I just wanted to let you know that this podcast helped a lot in getting me back on my feet.
